I'm talking about the FOOT WASHING RITE HOLY THRUSDAY....

I've signed up for the foot washing liturgy at the church on Holy Thursday. I was expecting to be the washer. I think I can do that. I'm fine with serving others. I'm OK with kissing the feet. This liturgy is very important to me because I had cenceled the Palm Sunday retreat to practice this. I made decision not to be intimate with the Lord but to kill my big sin, the pride. I believed that this ministry can help me get rid of the pride. I was hoping if I'm serving others like Jesus, I'd be humble.

(Here anyone can be the foot washer.. not just the priests.. )

Eventually, it turned out that I was not assigned to be the washer but the recepient!! At first I was so disappointed because I had to cancel the retreat because of this!! But then, I realized that I'd like to do this to kill the pride... and I asked the Lord to do that on this liturgy... He must be doing it.... I was trying to calm down.... and at the practice, the priest was reading this prayer..

You represent us, who are washed and made whole
By our entry into the font of baptism.
Christ loved His own and desired to show us His Love.
You represent us, in humbly receiving this love.

Then, I just understood what it means by being the recepient......

So, this liturgy is so holy!! And it teaches me a lot... I'm just back from the practice and I think I shoud write something... :)

I've learned to be humble to serve and also humble to be served.... I realized that I got a lot of pride in me. But I didn't know how to get rid of it. I was trying to serve others, especially those I don't like. It took me sometime to be able to do that..... but I still feel the pride in me...

After I was baptized, I found myself never ask much from God. ... I just realized that it was the pride in me that I don't let God give me anything much. I just asked Him to give me what I think He can give me... not everything... It's pretty much like when St.Peter refused Jesus to wash his feet at first. .. It took a moment for St. Peter to be humble and surrendered completely to accept Jesus's love. (John 13:6-9) ..... but it took me years to realize and be able to do this...



Jesus let us serve Him too, like a sinful woman in Luke 7:36-38. He let the woman kiss his feet. ... When I was praying that I'll be in the footwashing ministry, I'd like to take His role. I'd like to be like Him... It turned out that God answered my prayers but not in my way. I am in the footwashing rite as I asked for.....and I can also represent Him but not as the washer as in John 13:1-15 but as the recepient as in Luke 7:36-38.... I asked Him to kill my pride, and He answered my prayer.. :)



You may or may not know that in some church, like the Mennonite church, they have this as a sacrament and they call it The Sacrament of Footwashing..... All the newly baptized of this church must have their feet washed. To them, footwashing is a sacrament ,that is, it's the symbol of love as well as a means of grace!!

So, I encourage you, especially those who are going to be baptized this Easter Vigil, to be the foot washing recepient... It doesn't have to be literally the foot washing. It can be anything that you feel it hard to accept...

If you usually feel it hard to have your parents taking care of you just because you are grown up, humbly accept their help on this Holy Thursday.
If you usually feel it hard to accept someone's gift, just because you think he's poor and it's too much for him to get this thing for you, humbly accept his gift on this Holy Thursday.
If you usually feel it hard to ask for help from someone who's always willing to help you, humbly ask from their help on this Holy Thursday.

These are just little practice that you can do as you can participate in the FOOT WASHING RITE even though you are not chosen to be in front of the altar..... but you can make your own of this holy Foot Washing Rite in your daily lives.. :)

Maybe in Thai culture, it's not comfortable to kiss the feet... :)

So, do you really feel warm? .... It was just the practice yesterday... I'm so excited for this coming Holy Thursday.. :)

Some protestant chruch has the footwashing too, N' Jeab. I think I've read an article by P' PP about this na ja.. but I don't remember which one.

Here's pictures from the Episcopal church. (Is it Anglican?) They call it Maudy Thursday footwashing.



This is mennonite church (Eastern Catholic).

เรื่อง เมนโนไนต์ เนี่ย ไม่น่าจะเป็นคาทอลิกตะวันออก นะคร้าบ เป็นโปรเตสแตนต์สายหลัก โบราณๆ
อาจจะมีข้อปฏิบัติหลายอย่างคล้าย คาทอลิกมั้ง เช่นห้ามคุมกำเนิด อย่างเด็ดขาด ไม่ยอมอยู่ภายใต้เทคโนโลยี่

ฟื้นฟูจิตวิญญาณ ( Revival ) เช่นทีมศาสนาจารย์ ศิษยาภิบาล ล้างให้สมาชิก อาจารย์ทำให้ศิษย์ รุ่นพี่ทำให้รุ่นน้อง ฯลฯ
แต่จะให้เจาะจงล้างเท้ากันในวันพฤหัสศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เกือบจะไม่มีในคริสตจักร เพรสไบทีเรียน แบ๊พติส หรือกลุ่มอื่นๆ
ส่วน แองริกัน/อพิสโคปอล หรือลูเธอร์แรน บางคริสตจักรทำ บางคริสตจักรไม่ทำ ( ที่พูดในกรณีประเทศไทยฮะ )

I thought Mennonite is the Eastern Catholic because I've read some articles from this church and they said something like they follow the rites from the Roman church... which is similar to how the Eastern Catholic call us. So, I just assumed that Mennonite is one of the Eastern Catholic.. ;D Sorry... ;D

มาพูดความจริง การล้างเท้าวันพฤหัสบดีศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของ โปรเตสแตนต์ในไทย อาจจะไม่มี แต่จะมีเมื่อ มีค่าย หรือรับน้อง
อย่าง seminary ของ (ที่ ) พี่พีพี สอน เมื่อรับน้อง จะนำเรื่อง Holy Week มาจำลอง ตัวอย่างเช่น

-คลานเข่า บนดินลูกรัง/หินขรุขระ
-แบกกางเขน ที่ทำด้วยไม้หนักๆ
-ไปตะโกน เล่าเรื่องพระเยซูคริสต์ กลางตลาด (รุ่นพี่ไปแอบดู )
-ดื่ม น้ำหวานผสมเกลือ
-ทานอาหาร แค่ สอง-สามคำ แล้วถูกเรียกตัวให้ไปทำกิจกรรมอื่นๆ

ที่กล่าวมาข้างบน เพื่อทดสอบรสชาติ ชีวิตของการเป็นผู้ร่วมงานของพระเยซูคริสต์

-ต่อมา รุ่นพี่/อาจารย์ ล้างเท้าให้ น้องใหม่ เป็นการสำแดงการถ่อมใจของ ผู้ล้างเท้า เวลานั้น ก็สอน ชีวิต

หลังจากนั้น ก็มีการฟังเทศนาฟื้นฟูชีวิตจิตวิญญาณ

ปกติที่วัดบ้านเซเวียร์พี่จะถูกพ่อเรียกเข้าพิธีล้างเท้าทุกปี ยกเว้นปีนี้ แต่ก็ภูมิใจแล้ว เพราะวันเสาร์นี้สมาชิกใหม่บอร์ดเราเป็นคาทอลิกที่วัดบ้านเซเวียร์ เวลา 20.00 น. พี่เป็นพ่อทูลหัว ใครอยากไปก็เชิญครับ :)
