Vianney served in the French village of Ars, where he died in 1859. When his body was exhumed in 1904 because of his pending beatification, it was found intact.
The saint's body is laid in the Chapel of the Reliquary in a new basilica which is attached to the original Parish of Ars Church in Ars, France.

The heart of St. John Vianney, who died in 1859, is being brought to America.
Thousands of Catholics are expected to flock to a Long Island church tomorrow to glimpse the heart of a revered 19th century French priest.
For the first time, the heart of St. John Vianney, who died in 1859, is being brought to America to be venerated by worshipers.
"Everyone is working overtime to get everything ready. As St. John Vianney used to say, 'Nothing is too beautiful for God,'" said the Rev. Charles Mangano, pastor of the Curé of Ars Church in Merrick, where the saint's heart will be until Wednesday.Mangano, 45, called the event "a historical moment for our country, our diocese, our church."
Masses and other events will be held over five days, beginning with a veneration service and confessions at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.
St. John Vianney, known as the patron saint of parish priests, died in the French village of Ars. When his body was exhumed 45 years later in 1904 for his pending beatification, it was miraculously found intact.
"People were calling him a saint when he was alive," Mangano said of St. John Vianney, who was believed to have the ability to read the hearts of worshipers.
The Merrick church, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, was the first in the U.S. to be named in honor of St. John Vianney.
"The whole purpose of the heart coming is to call us all to a deeper conversion and, through it all, maybe some people will be inspired to give their lives to Christ and the church," Mangano said.
The heart is in a glass chalice that will sit at the front of the church's altar for believers to see. Mangano said Catholics are coming from across the country to worship in the presence of the heart.
"It's an actual heart, 3-D, not in any kind of gel or formaldehyde," Mangano said. "It's brownish color. When you get really close to it, the center is still pinkish-red."
After it leaves Merrick, the heart will be taken to a church in Boston before being returned to Ars, where the saint's body lies in a glass case with the heart near it.
