"A six-inch-high porcelain statue began weeping tears of blood. The liquid staining the image is genuinely blood, and human at that. The Santiago coroner's office pronounced the substance is type O-4 human blood. The statue weeps regularly, particularly in the presence of children."

It was confirmed by doctors attached to the police Criminal Investigation Department that the mysterious red liquid, which flows from the eyes of a statue of the Virgin Mary belonging to a Chilean woman, is indeed human blood. It was stated by Dr Inelia Chacon that three samples of the liquid examined in a laboratory were shown to be blood.
The small blue and white porcelain statue belongs to Olga Rodriguez, a housewife from the working class La Cisterna district in the south of Santiago. Since 14 November, when the tears of blood were seen for the first time, the modest home of Mrs Rodriguez has become the main attraction for residents of the district. Thousands of people in the Bangladeshi port city of Chittagong are flocking to a Roman Catholic church where tears are reported to been seen on a statue of the Virgin Mary. Many of those visiting the church are Muslims, eager to see what some locals believe is a sign of the Virgin's dismay over the recent outbreak of violence in the country and elsewhere in the world. Roman Catholic believers say it is the first time in Bangladesh that tears have been seen on a statue of the Virgin Mary.

rasgones se divulgan a visto en una estatua de la Virgen Maria. Muchos
de ésos que visitan la iglesia son musulmanes, impacientes ver que lo
que creen algunos locals es una muestra de la consternación de la
Virgen sobre el brote reciente de violencia en el país y a otra parte
en el mundo. Los believers católicos dicen que está la primera
vez en Bangladesh que los rasgones se han visto en una estatua de la
Virgen Maria.

It might be noted that any number of statue weepings involve such flows of human tears or blood as to literally soak cloths and drench the image or floor. There is no way for sceptics and unbelievers to get around such profuce effusions from dry wood or stone, as with the marble Rosa Mystica statue has also done, as many images of Teresa Musco ( Caserta, near Rome!) did: as the Regina Mundi, Oueen of the World statue of Enzon Alocci, Porto S. Stefano shed tears 9 times and blood 18 from 1972 - 1977.
