"Since writing the song I've started doing some research about the real St Teresa of Evila who was this nun in Spain in the 1500s who started having these mystical visions. I went back to the song after I'd written it and read about St Teresa and it's really kind of interesting that that little movie which became the song is analogous to some of the images she had been using in her writing, so it's kind of cool, actually."

It is, isn't it. So is Joan Osborne. She reeks of sheer everyday you and me, doesn't quite know where to put her head sometimes, is bursting inquisitive and joyous. If God were one of us, right now, he'd probably fancy Joan Osborne, a lot.
