The Contemplative Prayer

- The Contemplative Prayer is the ability of controlling one’s mind to pray with Lord God’s love from the heart by praying slowly without hurry and with the true understanding of the meaning of the prayer in every word of it in order to be in His presence (face to face with the Lord).
- It is a great desire to love and to converse with the Lord. The Contemplative Prayer cannot be accomplished by our human effort alone. We need the love of the Lord which He will send to us to combine with our efforts in order for us to succeed.
- The Contemplative Prayer is good for anyone who wants to pray in private and has enough time to listen to the voice of the Lord in his or her heart (Lord God will speak in silence and only to the one whose mind is calm and still).
- How do we know whether we are talking to ourselves when we hear the Lord’s voice in our hearts? The Lord’s voice in our hearts is the thing we do not listen with our ears and acknowledge with our brains. It is the full understanding that happens in our hearts without any doubt when we hear it. Even though it might be a short duration, like a second, we can deeply and thoroughly understand what the Lord wants to tell us. Everything the Lord tells us is a fact that every one of us can prove by himself or herself and it is always in the present time. We will always have peace when we follow the given direction from the Lord.
- The Contemplative Prayer has certain procedures to prepare our hearts before meeting the Lord so our hearts will be cleansed and be still with the Lord. Thus, it is necessary to practice every step before doing the Contemplative Prayer. The Heavenly Father fully realizes that human beings like to CHOOSE, WINNOW and FILTER for only what they want. That is why He said, “Whoever does more, will get more. Whoever does less, will get less. Whoever does nothing, why should he expect to get something in return?”

The Steps of Preparation for Meditation
- Find a place so we can be alone with the Lord, no hustle with our daily chores.
- Choose a quiet place.
- Let go of every thought, leave it outside the training place, no distraction.
- Sit in a comfortable position, back straight and not resting on the wall or on an armchair so we will always be fully alert, not be sleepy and fall asleep.

Meditating
1. Inviting the Holy Spirit
2. Inviting the Archangel Michael
3. Controlling our breathing
4. The Prayer of Act of Contrition
5. Asking for a soul cleansing
6. Realizing the Lord’s presence in our hearts
7. Listening to the voice of the Lord in our hearts

Performing the Contemplative Prayer
- Praying with the Love of Lord God in our hearts

Meditating
“In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.”

1. Inviting the Holy Spirit
Let us visualize the Holy Spirit, the Lord of Light, as a comforting-white light floating above our heads and ask Him like this, “O Holy Spirit, please mercifully give illumination in my thought and in my heart so that with your wisdom I will be able to learn and understand all the prayers and chores I will do today. Let it be done according to your will, O Lord.”

“Come, Holy Spirit”
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Heavenly King, Consoler Spirit, Spirit of Truth, present everywhere and filling all things, treasure of all good and source of all life, come dwell in us, cleanse and save us, you who are All Good.

2. Inviting the Archangel Michael
Let us visualize that we are kneeling in front of the Archangel Michael and asking for his help so doing this Contemplative Prayer will be free from the devil and his minions’ temptations.
Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

3. Controlling our breathing
- Let us close our eyes and relax just like we are about to sleep and think of the Holy Spirit which is the goodness, vitality, and beauty.
- Let us practice to control our breathing by taking a deep breath, sucking in the air as much as we can and holding it for five seconds. We want to increase our lungs’ capacity to be able to take in the breath of God and oxygen to clean our blood and to rejuvenate our bodies. Slowly exhale to let all the air go out from our lungs, pushing out carbon dioxide and impurities from our bodies.
- This might be our last breath. Have we prepared our souls the best we can in order to meet the Lord if He calls us today?
- Now slowly take a deep breath and suck in the air as much as we can so we will be more appreciative of the breath of God who lets us live every time we breathe.
- Say “The breath of God” and hold our breath for five seconds. Slowly exhale. Lord God kindly lets us live today to give us a chance to do good deeds in atonement of our sins. We want to kneel in front of Him and give thanksgiving to Him with gratitude for His love and mercy and with sincerity of our hearts. Say “Thank you, Lord.”
- Pray the following prayer (Prayer to Be Merciful from St. Faustina’s Diary 163) and contemplate each word of it. Repeat the prayer while controlling our breathing until our hearts are still with the Lord. It will take us a while so don’t give up.
“O Most Holy Trinity! As many times as I breathe, as many times as my heart beats, as many times as my blood pulsates through my body, so many thousand times do I want to glorify Your mercy.”

4. The Prayer of Act of Contrition
Before asking for the blessing to receive the healing from the Lord, we must be in the state of readiness and with a purified soul. We must know ourselves thoroughly and acknowledge that we are sinners. We must meticulously go over our conscience and pray the Prayer of the Act of Contrition with the sincerity of our hearts in order to ask the Lord for the purification of our souls to be free of impurities.
- Go over our conscience for a while.
- Ask the Holy Spirit for His illumination to see our shortcomings even though they might be small matters in the eyes of human beings.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to let us see our sins and shortcomings that we have been doing and have been getting used to, thinking that they are not sins anymore.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to make us really feel sorry in order for us to apologize to the Heavenly Father for disappointing Him with the sins we have committed by thought, action, word, and negligence.
- Pray the Prayer of the Act of Contrition slowly and contemplate each word with sincerity of our hearts.
The Prayer of Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended you and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell. But most of all because I have offended you, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance and to amend my life. Amen.
- Spend time with the Lord for a while in order to talk to Him in private or to tell Him that from now on we have the real intention to avoid committing sins and how we are going to avoid committing the sins that we have been committing on a regular basis.

5. Asking for a soul cleansing
Human beings like to respond to their thoughts without thinking about it and without their conscience. Human beings often easily fall into sin by thinking a bad thought and not catching on with their own thinking.
Let us visualize the splendor of the Holy Spirit as a brilliant- white light that is full of love and comfort and is floating above our heads. Ask Him to come down and chase away the darkness and purify all the points of entry of our bodies and souls that lead us to commit sins.

Purifying our thought
- Visualize the splendor of the Holy Spirit as a brilliant- white light that is full of love and comfort and is floating above our heads.
- Invite the splendor of the Lord to come down and get into the crown of our heads. We will feel the warmth spreading throughout our brains. His splendor, which is the brilliant-white light, is replacing the darkness that has been covering our thoughts.
- Pray the following prayer:
“I want to be completely transformed into Your mercy and to be Your living reflection, O Lord. May the greatest of all divine attributes, that of Your unfathomable mercy, pass through my heart and soul to my neighbors.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- Make ourselves see the Lord’s splendor shining brightly inside our thoughts. There is no more darkness. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our thoughts and it makes us feel good. Our thoughts have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.
When we have a bad thought and do not think about it with our conscience, the thought will order our eyes, ears, nose, mouth and tongue to take part in committing sins and cause us to have impurities in our souls.

Purifying our eyes
- Ask the Lord’s splendor to come down from the crown of our heads and spread out to both of our eyes. We will feel the warmth and tingling sensation. And in the darkness we will see the brilliant-white light coming down from the crown of our heads and chasing away the darkness in both of our eyes.
- Pray the following prayer: chasing away the darkness that is covering our hearts.
- The Lord’s splendor starts to slowly appear in our hearts. It is the light that was born inside our hearts, shining brightly inside and then shining brightly outside in all directions. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our hearts.
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my eyes may be merciful, so that I may never suspect or judge from appearances, but look for what is beautiful in my neighbors’ souls and come to their rescue.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering both of our eyes. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our eyes and it makes us feel good. Our eyes have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.

Purifying our ears
- Ask the Lord’s splendor to come down from our eyes and spread out to both of our ears. We will feel the warmth and tingling sensation.
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my ears may be merciful, so that I may give heed to my neighbors’ needs and not be indifferent to their pains and moanings.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering both of our ears. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our ears and it makes us feel good. Our ears have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.
Purifying our Noses
- Ask the Lord’s splendor to come down from our eyes and ears and spread to our noses. We will feel the warmth and tingling sensation.
We have been receiving the love of the Lord every day. The Lord kindly gives His breath to us through the Holy Spirit and passes through our noses. The breath of the Lord makes us holy and befitting to be His children.
Each day we do not think about the Holy Spirit who is the energy that gives life to us and lifts up our hearts and souls to be high, instead we spend our lives inappropriately. We follow our own free will which makes us to be unclean and lose the holiness because we have fallen into sins.
- Apologize to the Lord and ask His splendor to replace the darkness that is covering our noses in order for us to have a new and holy life. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our noses. We can take a deeper breath, more air in our lungs and it makes us feel good. Our noses have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.

Purifying our tongues and mouths
- Ask the Lord’s splendor to come down from our eyes, ears, and nose to spread to our tongues and mouths. We will feel the warmth and tingling sensation.
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my tongue may be merciful, so that I should never speak negatively of my neighbors, but have a word of comfort and forgiveness for all.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering our tongues and mouths. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our tongues and mouths and it makes us feel good. Our tongues and mouths have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.
Now we see the Lord’s splendor spreading throughout our heads. Our heads are glowing by His splendor. We can also feel the warmth spreading throughout our heads and it makes us feel good. Our heads have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.
When there is no use of conscience, the thought will order our hands and feet to make us commit sins easily. Let us ask for the splendor of the Holy Spirit to purify our hands and feet too.

Purifying our hands
- Ask the Lord’s splendor that is shining brightly in our heads to spread into our necks, shoulders, arms, and both of our hands, just like turning on a spotlight. We will see His splendor chasing away the darkness that is covering both of our hands.
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my hands may be merciful and filled with good deeds, so that I may do only good to my neighbors and take upon myself the more difficult and toilsome tasks.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering both of our hands. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our hands and it makes us feel good. Our hands have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.

Purifying our feet
- Ask the Lord’s splendor that is shining brightly in our heads to spread into our necks, shoulders, arms, both of our hands, our upper body, our lower body, legs, and both of our feet, just like turning on a spotlight. We will see His splendor chasing away the darkness that is covering both of our feet.
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my feet may be merciful, so that I may hurry to assist my neighbors, overcoming my own fatigue and weariness. My true rest is in the service of my neighbors.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering both of our feet. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our feet and it makes us feel good. Our feet have been purified. Let us give thanksgiving to the Lord.

Purifying our hearts
- Pray the following prayer:
“Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbors. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know, will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suffering in silence. May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me.” (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- The Lord’s splendor is replacing the darkness that is covering our hearts. We can feel the warmth spreading throughout our hearts. Our worries have completely disappeared. We feel good.
- Our hearts have been purified. We can see the Lord’s splendor spreading out from our hearts and shining brightly all over our souls. We have done a good job in cleaning up the little temples of the Lord. Now we are ready to invite the Lord to dwell in these little temples, befitting to His glory and might.

6. Realizing the Lord’s presence in our hearts
- After we have received a purification of our souls from the Lord to be clean and fresh and befitting to be His dwelling place, let us think about our Father (Dad) who is holy, full of love, and goodness that surpasses everything.
- Let us invite Dad to come in and dwell in our hearts which are His little temples. Don’t worry about inviting Mother Mary. When Dad comes into our hearts, Mom will follow Him and come into our hearts too (Dad is the Holy Trinity. Mom has already been honored by Dad to reside in the Holy Trinity).
- Visualize ourselves as a little child that is running to meet our Dad, give Him a big hug with love, and invite Him to get in and dwell in our hearts, His little temples. While the Lord is getting inside our hearts, His little temples, we can feel His holiness, power, overflowing love, and warmth that is radiating from Him.
- Let us think about the Lord’s presence in our hearts: the holiness, the goodness that surpasses everything, the warmth that is overflowing with love. We will feel the warmth spreading throughout our souls. It makes us feel good.
- Let us look at a picture of the Lord, focus our hearts and minds to feel and to absorb His love and bring this love into our hearts. Close our eyes and think of the infinite love of the Lord.

- Have we ever noticed that sometimes when we received the Lord’s consolation or when we felt His touch, even for a very short duration, we were so full of happiness and joy that we no longer wanted anything else in this world? We just wanted to be in His love as long as we could.

- Let us pray the following prayers:
- Lord, may your mercy stay with me every second and forever. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- Lord, may I do every deed with mercy. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- Lord, if I cannot help my fellow human beings with deeds, let me help them with words that are full of mercy. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- Lord, if I cannot help my fellow human beings with deeds and words, let me give them mercy through prayers which can reach anywhere that I physically cannot be at. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- Lord Jesus, transform me to be one with Your Mercy because You can do all things. I am Yours. Please do to me the way You want them to be. Amen. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)

7. Listening to the voice of the Lord in our hearts
While we are controlling our breathing and being still with the Lord, we listen to the voice of the Lord in our hearts by doing the following steps:
- Control our minds to listen to the sounds that are closest to us and as far as we can hear. What do we hear, i.e., the sound of our own breathing or the sound of our own movement, the sound in this room, and the sound outside the room?
- After a while, control our minds and bring them back to the silence and calmness of our hearts. In this silence and calmness, have we heard the voice of the Lord or received an illumination from Him or felt His touch?

Performing the Contemplative Prayer
- Let us choose a prayer and try to fully understand the meaning of it. At this time, we have decided to use the 3 O'clock Prayer (the Hour of Mercy Prayer) as an example.

Understanding the 3 O'clock Prayer (the Hour of Mercy Prayer)
- Look through the terrifying wounds and suffering of Lord Jesus to see His infinite love for us, to the point of sacrificing His life to redeem us from our sins and to give us salvation in exchange for His life.
- Now we know how much the Lord loves us. When we pray, we will pray with His love which is overflowing in our hearts and give His love to all human beings who are our brothers and sisters, especially the sinners, the suffering souls in purgatory, and for the souls that no one thinks of.
- Now we contemplate over the meaning of the prayer so when we pray this prayer, we will pray with the love which is overflowing in our hearts so those aforementioned people will receive the Lord’s love too.
- You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world.
(Let us pause for a moment and contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
(Let us pause for a moment and contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!
(Let us pause for a moment and contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)

The following is additional information that will help us to be more efficient with the Contemplative Prayer:
1. Practice praying with the love of the Lord
- Let us choose a prayer that we are familiar with. At this time, we have decided to use the 3 O'clock Prayer (the Hour of Mercy Prayer).
- This method of praying is not suitable for a long prayer or for praying the Holy Rosary because we will get tired or our hands might get numb from holding the Holy Rosary.
- To prevent confusion, tell the Lord whom we are going to pray for. And we must trust the Lord that He has acknowledged our intent and that everything will go according to His will. This will help us to be able to concentrate in sending out His love to whom we pray for and to understand the meaning of the prayer so there will be only two things that we have to worry about.
- After asking the Lord for His help for those whom we want to pray for, relax and do not force ourselves to send our love to whom we want to pray for because this is the love of the Lord, just be aware that we are His instrument in sending His love to them.
- Before praying, control our breathing three times in order for our hearts and minds to be still with the Lord.
- Pray the 3 O'clock Prayer (the Hour of Mercy Prayer) slowly with full understanding of the meaning of the prayer and send out Dad’s overflowing love from our hearts.
Exercise number 1:
- Tell the Lord whom we want to send His love to, only one person at this time. Control our breathing three times in order for our hearts and minds to be still with the Lord. Our left hand touches our hearts and our right hand stretches out at a 45 degree angle in order to send out the love. Pray the prayer. After finishing the prayer, control our breathing three times. Fold our hands in front of our chests to keep the love of the lord in our hearts.
Exercise number 2:
- Tell the Lord whom we want to send His love to (our benefactors, the sinners, those who asked for our prayers, the sick, those who are about to die, the souls in purgatory, and the souls that no one thinks of). Follow Exercise number 1’s steps.
This time when we send out Dad’s love, we will feel that His love is spreading out from our hearts. Stay still in this trance for a while before controlling our breathing three times. Fold our hands in front of our chests to keep the love of the lord in our hearts.

2. The meaning of the three most important prayers of Roman Catholics
The Lord’s Prayer (Our Father)
There are two parts of this prayer.
1. Pleading in reference to the Lord and His splendor
Our Father,
- The Father is Our Dad with overflowing love for every human being. Therefore, all of us are brothers and sisters.
Who art in Heaven,
- Our real home is in heaven. And one day we will go back to Our Dad over there.
Hallowed be thy name;
- We humbly adore and pay homage to Our Dad’s name.
Thy kingdom come;
- We ask that this world will have love, peace, and tranquility just like heaven on earth.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
-Our Dad wants every one of His children to be good, and has peace and love for each other like those in heaven.
2. Pleading in reference to our own needs
Give us this day our daily bread;
- Dad, please give us everything we need today for us and for our brothers, and sisters, including food to sustain both of our bodies and souls.
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
- Dad forgives us when we have committed sins so we must have true love and goodwill toward others with no strings attached and we must know how to forgive also.
And lead us not into temptation,
- By ourselves we cannot fight off the devil’s temptations so we must ask for Dad’s strength to make us strong in order to overcome the temptations.
But deliver us from evil.
- We ask Dad to help us from dangers, evils, and sins that are now surrounding us.
Let us let go of everything and follow the feeling coming out of our hearts. Don’t worry about the words in the prayer anymore.
- Then we say the prayer with true feelings from our hearts. Here is an example:
Our Father
Our Dad, You are in heaven. Hallowed be Dad’s name. Let Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
(This is only an example. We don’t have to force ourselves to pray like this. Use the feeling, at that time, from our hearts to guide us.)
- After finishing the prayer, let us stay still with Our Dad for a while.
- Spend this time to converse with Dad or to receive teaching from Him.
- Let us immerse ourselves in Dad’s love until our hearts are refreshingly and completely saturated with His Love, and then slowly open our eyes.

Hail Mary
There are two parts in this prayer.
1. Paying homage
Hail Mary,
- It is the greeting from heaven's messenger to pay homage to the Holy Trinity and it is the highest homage for Mother Mary by the Archangel Gabriel saying,” I greet you with my utmost respect.” And he brought the message from Lord God to give it to Mom, a virgin, who has offered herself to the Lord. And he told Mom that she would be pregnant with the power of the Holy Spirit. Mom would give birth to a son and the son would be named Jesus who would bring salvation to the whole human race.
- Mary means the Queen of Light and is the North Star, the leader of the ships of our souls who leads us safely to eternal salvation.
- Lord Jesus looked down from the cross and said, “Woman, here is your son.” And He told the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. It is the same as Lord Jesus offered all of us to be Mom’s children. And Mom will be the one to offer our prayers, her children’s prayers, to Lord God.
full of grace. The Lord is with thee.

- These two sentences compliment each other. The Archangel Gabriel praised Mother Mary that Lord God was very pleased with her. The Lord came to be close to Mom. The Holy Spirit has given Mom lots of grace and made Mom the intercessor able to pass on the grace to all of those who ask.
Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
- These are the praising words of Saint Elizabeth to Mom. When Mom found out that she would give birth to the Redeemer by the power of the Holy Spirit, she rushed to see the Saint. Saint Elizabeth was elated when she got the news.
2. Pleading is the part that has been added on and authored by the Church
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
- Mom who is holy, the mother of Lord God. Mom is always the refuge of us sinners, even when we are about to die. We ask Mom to stay with us, just like Mom stayed at the foot of the cross of Lord Jesus, to save us from the devil’s hands and take us to her son, Lord Jesus, in heaven.
Holy means sacred.
Let us let go of everything and follow the feeling coming out of our hearts. Don’t worry about the words in the prayer anymore.
- Then we say the prayer with true feelings from our hearts. Here is an example:
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with Mom. Blessed is Mom amongst women, and blessed is your son, Lord Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
(This is only an example. We don’t have to force ourselves to pray like this. Use the feeling, at that moment, from our hearts to guide us.)
- After finishing the prayer, let us stay still with Our Mom for a while.
- Spend this time to converse with Mom or to receive teaching from her or to feel her touch.
- Let us immerse ourselves in Mom’s love until our hearts are refreshingly and completely saturated with her love, and then slowly open our eyes.

Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
- We pay homage to the Holy Trinity.
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
- We pay homage to You, Lord God, with all human race, from the first pair to the last human being who will share eternal life with You.
- Let us let go of everything and follow the feeling coming out of our hearts. Don’t worry about the words in the prayer anymore.
- Then we say the prayer with true feelings from our hearts. Here is an example:
Glory Be
Glory be to Dad the Father, and to Dad the Son, and to Dad the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The 3 O'clock Prayer (the Hour of Mercy Prayer)

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

3. Paying Homage to Lord God
It is a thanksgiving or praising or offering of intentions with all one’s heart and soul to Lord God, suitable to use for paying homage in one’s privacy.
Technique for paying homage to Lord God
- Lie down with our frontal body and forehead touching the ground, humbly giving up all of our own thoughts.
- Our hearts are touching the ground in order to humbly give up our will and offer all of our trust to Lord God.
- Both of our arms stretch all the way out with the right palm covering the left palm as if we humbly offer the flower from our hearts to pay homage to Lord God.
Just like the aforementioned exercises, after we have prepared to meditate and cleanse our souls with all the prescribed steps, let us choose one of the prayers to review and understand its meaning before praying.
It is okay for us to give thanks or praise or offer our intention with all our hearts and souls in private. Here, we will use “Glory Be” as an example.
- Let us close our eyes and visualize seeing ourselves in front of the Holy Trinity, our one and only Lord of Love.
- Lord God is greater than all the kings. How are we going to pay Him the highest respect with love when we are in front of Him? How are we going to give praise to Him with all our hearts and souls?
- Let us send out this feeling from the hearts of our souls until we feel our souls stay still with the Lord.
- Let us let go of everything and follow the feeling coming out of our hearts. Don’t worry about the words in the prayer anymore.
- Then we say the prayer with true feelings from our hearts. Keep repeating the prayer in our hearts while paying homage to Lord God and contemplate over the meaning of it.

Glory Be
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. (We should pause to contemplate over the meaning of this prayer.)
- While we pay homage and pray to Lord God, visualize ourselves as a small boat floating in a creek which is refreshing and is full of His love.
- We have trust in Lord God. The golden rays from His splendor are shining all over our backs, making us warm and comfortable within His love.
- The creek, small and clear, slowly transforms into a river. We are not afraid of this big river. We joyfully sail along with the Lord’s will.
- The river slowly transforms into a lake. We have firm belief and trust in the Lord. We trust in Him and let our boat sail along with His will.
- The lake slowly transforms into a sea. We see the bright color of the sea replacing the lake. Let us be joyful and trust in the Lord’s will. Regardless of wherever He will lead us, we will not be flimsy again.
- Finally, the sea slowly transforms into an ocean with the color of turquoise. It is the ocean of the Lord’s unfathomable mercy.
- We let ourselves sail in the ocean of the Lord’s mercy with total trust in His will.
- Let us immerse ourselves in the Lord’s mercy until our hearts are refreshingly and completely saturated with it.
- Let us stay still with the Holy Trinity for a while, spend this time to converse to Lord God or to listen to His teaching, and then slowly open our eyes.

The following is a prayer that may be used for paying homage to Lord God.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

4. Praying to ask for the elevation of our souls
- After we have prepared ourselves for meditation and for cleansing of our souls by the prescribed procedure, let us review and try to understand the meaning of the prayer for elevation of our souls before saying it.
- Let us close our eyes and visualize seeing ourselves in front of the Father, Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Mother Mary respectively.
- Let us filter our real feelings that are coming out from our hearts and send out those feelings until we feel our souls bond and stay still with the Holy Trinity and Mother Mary.
- Let us fly to the Lord with that feeling and let go of everything, just follow the cry of our own hearts.
- Don’t worry about the words in the prayer anymore because from now on we will pray with the true feeling of our hearts, like this:

The Prayer to Ask for the Elevation of Our Souls
My Dearest Dad, please elevate my soul to be higher up according to Your will so I will always be close to Your heart.
(We should stop and stay still for a while to feel the blessing of the Father.)
The Son, Lord Jesus Christ, my Dearest God, please cleanse and heal my soul so I will be able to fly high with You, to love and serve Your Father and My Father, to pray, to offer Mass, to heal, to bless, and to help my brothers and sisters to the eternal salvation.
(We should stop and stay still for a while to feel the blessing of Lord Jesus.)
The Holy Spirit who makes me holy, please come inside me again and make my heart completely full with all of your seven blessings so I can float high to love the Father, the Son, You the Holy Spirit, and Mother Mary, my Dearest Mom, and so my heart and soul will be united with You.

(We should stop and stay still for a while to feel the blessing of the Holy Spirit.)
(The seven blessings of the Holy Spirit are Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Fear and Piety.) http://www.2heartsnetwork.org/HolySpirit.htm

Mother Mary, my Dearest Mom, Queen of Heaven, higher than angels and those saints in heaven, please look at me with compassion and feel my lowly heart. Please make my heart full with joy, peace, and happiness with love so my soul will be elevated higher from the world which is full of sins and sufferings. Please hug me close to your heart. Amen.
(We should stop and stay still for a while to feel the blessing from Mother Mary.)

The Seven Deadly Sins
(As explained by Fr. Stephen F. Torraco on 4/2/2001):
(http://www.ewtn.com/vexperts/showmessag ... nu=&recnu=)
1). Sloth is often equated with laziness; but the kind of laziness that sloth is often misunderstood. Sloth is fundamentally a sadness in the presence of eternal or spiritual goods, and ultimately God Himself. Sloth is often disguised by "workaholism," or by a "busy-ness" about temporal things that is actually a means of avoiding eternal and spiritual things, and ultimately God. Sloth is often manifested by "boredom" about attending Mass or praying, for example. Saint Thomas Aquinas calls sloth the "sin against the Sabbath."

2). Envy is a sadness in the presence of the goodness of others. Rather than move us to emulate the goodness of others, envy leads us to find a way to justify the fact that we lack the goodness that others possess. A manifestation of envy today is ethical relativism, which denies that there are any objective moral norms. This denial is intended to subvert the objective status of the goodness of others.

3). Covetousness is a disordered and excessive desire to control persons, places, or things. Contrary to generosity, covetousness manifests itself today especially in the contraceptive mentality. The contraceptive mentality is the distorted attempt to control one's own as well as another's body, including the human capacity for sexual loving and procreation. The tragic result of the contraceptive mentality -- the "sexual holocaust" of the past twenty-five years -- is the reduction of one's own and another's body to "mere dress." The contraceptive mentality has reduced woman to a merely passive receptacle of male predatory tendencies.

4). Vainglory or pride is respecting oneself or others for the wrong reasons. Pride today is often manifested in the news media when, for example, a Catholic legislator who consistently promotes a so-called "pro-choice" position is praised by the Catholic media for his or her position on welfare reform.

5). Gluttony is the excessive preoccupation with our bodies at the cost of becoming forgetful of our souls, not only in terms of excessive eating and drinking, but also in terms of excessive preoccupation with physical fitness and physical beauty.

6). Lust is the vehement disorder of sexual desires, as in the case of the so-called "homosexual lifestyle" or the widespread phenomenon of "living together." Lust reduces human sexuality to genitality. As a result, lust tends to distort human sexual genital activity into a form of recreation. Ironically and tragically, lust leads to a fear of fertility and to an animosity for children, as expressed in practices such as rape, sterilization, contraception, abortion, pornography, child molestation, adultery, and divorce.

7). Anger is a mixture of sadness and hatred in the presence of what is true. (Don't be confused by the fact that "anger" is the name of a spirited emotion as well as the name of the distortion of that emotion.) An example of this sin of anger is the radical feminist movement and the so-called "gay rights" movement. Radical feminists are very unhappy about the objective meaning of the dignity and vocation of women, just as a members of the "gay rights" movement are unhappy about the objective meaning of masculinity and femininity.

It is important to notice that five of the seven deadly sins latch onto a "part" or dimension of the soul called desire or eros, the home of the central emotion of love and the dimension of soul where we are usually "located" on a daily basis. In light of this fact, it is extremely easy to drift into sloth, envy, covetousness, gluttony, or lust.

Anger is the "cancerous growth" on the dimension of the soul called spiritedness or thumos, the home of the secondary emotions such fear. Vainglory or pride is the distortion of the dimension of the soul called mind or logos, the home of intellect and will.

- Ask the Lord’s splendor that is shining brightly in our bodies to rush into our hearts, just like turning on a spotlight. We will see His splendor which is shining brightly in all directions. We will see His splendor in our hearts.
